The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn12solred500r is a 12 AWG solid plain copper THHN wire rated at 600 volts, supplied on a 500-foot spool with red PVC insulation and a nylon jacket. This wire type is one of the most widely installed branch-circuit conductors in residential and commercial electrical work. The solid copper conductor delivers reliable conductivity for general-purpose wiring, and the dual-layer insulation system — PVC over nylon — provides resistance to heat, moisture, oil, and abrasion. The 90 degrees C dry and 75 degrees C wet temperature ratings make it suitable for use in both conduit runs and wet or damp locations as permitted by code.
This spool is used in standard branch-circuit wiring, panel feeder runs, junction box connections, and conduit installations in residential, light commercial, and industrial settings. Electricians commonly pull 12 AWG THHN through EMT, rigid conduit, or flexible conduit for 20-amp circuits serving receptacles, lighting, appliances, and HVAC equipment. The red insulation color supports color-coded circuit identification in multi-wire branch circuits and three-phase installations.
Designed for use in conduit systems and raceways where THHN or THWN-rated wire is specified. Suitable for 20-amp, 120/240-volt branch circuits as permitted under NEC Article 310 wiring guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit panel before making any terminations. Use a proper wire stripper sized for 12 AWG to avoid nicking the copper conductor, which can create a fault point. Do not exceed the ampacity or temperature ratings listed for this conductor when sizing conduit fill or selecting breaker size.
