The THERMAFLEX 56306000002 is a KM-tier, R8-rated insulated flexible air duct designed for low- to medium-pressure HVAC distribution systems. The inner core is constructed from a smooth, airtight laminated polyester film encapsulating a heavy-gauge, corrosion-resistant steel wire helix. This steel helix supports a thick fiberglass insulation blanket rated at R8, which is then wrapped in a bi-directional reinforced metallized vapor barrier jacket rated at 0.1 perms. The duct ships in a 6-inch inside diameter, 25-foot length and is manufactured in the USA. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors install this duct as part of forced-air residential and light commercial supply systems.
This flexible duct is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air supply runs where branch duct connections require flexibility between rigid trunk lines and diffusers or registers. The 6-inch diameter is a common branch size in residential HVAC layouts. With a maximum airflow rating of 5000 feet per minute and a maximum operating temperature of 250 degrees F, it handles standard supply-air conditions across gas, heat pump, and air handler systems. The operating temperature range extends down to -20 degrees F, making it appropriate for unconditioned attic and crawlspace installations where temperature extremes occur.
Designed as an OEM-compatible flexible supply duct for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems requiring a 6-inch inside diameter insulated branch duct with R8 insulation value.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with SMACNA flexible duct installation standards and local mechanical codes. Disconnect and lock out power to the air handler or furnace before connecting duct sections. Avoid sharp bends, compression, or sags that reduce the effective inside diameter and increase static pressure drop. Secure each end with an approved draw band and listed mastic or metallic tape per NFPA 90A and 90B requirements.
