The THERMAFLEX 53810000001 is a KM series insulated flexible air duct engineered for low to medium pressure HVAC distribution systems. The inner core is constructed from a smooth, airtight polyester film laminated around a heavy-gauge, corrosion-resistant steel wire helix, providing structural support while minimizing airflow restriction. A thick blanket of fiberglass insulation wraps the inner core, delivering an R-6.0 thermal rating. The outer jacket is a bi-directional reinforced metallized vapor barrier that resists unraveling and moisture infiltration. This duct ships in a 10-inch diameter by 25-foot length configuration and is installed by licensed HVAC technicians in residential and light commercial air distribution applications.
This flexible duct is suited for supply and return air distribution in forced-air systems operating under low to medium static pressure conditions. The 10-inch diameter accommodates higher-volume trunk and branch runs commonly found in larger residential systems and light commercial builds. The R-6.0 insulation value meets or exceeds many regional energy code minimums for unconditioned space duct installation, including attic and crawl space runs. The rated velocity of 5000 FPM supports high-flow applications without compromising duct integrity.
Designed as an OEM-style flexible duct solution for low to medium pressure forced-air HVAC distribution systems requiring a 10-inch inner diameter flexible connector with R-6.0 insulation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with SMACNA flexible duct installation standards and applicable local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling unit and verify the system is de-energized before connecting or repositioning ductwork. Avoid sharp bends that reduce the effective inner diameter and increase static pressure drop. Secure all connections with approved draw bands and mastic or UL 181B-listed tape — never use standard cloth duct tape as a primary seal.
