The TESA BROWN SHARPE 599-7762 is a magnetic indicator base designed to hold dial indicators and similar measuring instruments securely during inspection and layout work. The base features a fixed upright post arm style and includes holders for attaching your indicator. With a base footprint of 1-1/4 inches by 1-1/4 inches and a base height of 1-3/4 inches, the unit provides a stable, low-profile magnetic mounting point. A 5-1/4 inch post and 4-1/2 inch rod give the arm sufficient reach and positioning flexibility for most inspection setups. Machinists, tool and die makers, and quality control technicians use this type of base on machine tables, surface plates, and ferrous fixtures.
This magnetic indicator base is suited for precision measurement tasks in machine shops, manufacturing cells, and quality assurance environments. The fixed upright post arm style makes it appropriate for straightforward vertical indicator positioning where a rigid, non-articulating setup is preferred. It works on any ferrous metal surface that the magnetic base can grip, including lathe beds, mill tables, and granite-surfaced surface plates equipped with a steel mounting block. Holders are included, making the unit ready to accept a dial indicator or similar gauge without additional accessories.
Designed as an OEM-style magnetic indicator base compatible with standard dial indicators and gauges that mount to post-style holders on ferrous metal work surfaces.
Installation is performed by machinists and metrology technicians. Before placing the base, ensure the mounting surface is clean, flat, and free of chips or coolant that could reduce magnetic holding force. Engage the magnetic base only after the indicator and holders are loosely assembled, then tighten all locking points before taking measurements. Never rely on the magnetic base alone to secure the indicator when the workpiece or machine is in motion.
