The TESA BROWN SHARPE 14.82016 is an analog dial drop indicator designed for precision dimensional measurement in industrial, tool-and-die, and metrology applications. It provides a 1-inch total measurement range with a fine graduation of 0.0005 inches per division, allowing technicians to detect small surface variations, runout, and part-to-part deviations. The dial face reads 0 to 50 on a white background and spans 2-1/4 inches in diameter for easy readability. Each spindle revolution corresponds to 0.05 inches of travel. A built-in revolution counter tracks cumulative travel across multiple revolutions, reducing reading errors during longer-stroke measurements.
This dial drop indicator is suited for use on surface plates, comparator stands, magnetic bases, and fixture setups in machine shops, quality control labs, and manufacturing environments. It mounts via a vertical lug back, which accepts standard post-style holders and dovetail fixtures commonly found in inspection setups. Typical applications include checking shaft runout, verifying flatness, inspecting bore alignment, and performing comparative measurements against a master part. The English unit scale makes it a direct fit for inch-based inspection workflows.
Designed as an OEM-style drop indicator for use with standard AGD Group 2 indicator holders, comparator stands, and magnetic base arms that accept a vertical lug back mount in inch-based inspection setups.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist, metrologist, or quality technician familiar with precision measurement instruments. Secure the indicator firmly in a compatible lug-back holder before taking readings to prevent drift or vibration-induced error. Ensure the spindle axis is perpendicular to the measured surface to avoid cosine error. Do not force the spindle beyond its rated 1-inch travel range, as overtravel can damage the gear train.
