The TEMPIL 28070 is a Tempilstik temperature indicating marker rated to 1700 degrees F (927 degrees C). It is used to verify surface temperatures during welding, heat treating, metalworking, and other thermal processes. The stick has a bullet-tip shape and works by melting instantly and visibly when the surface it contacts reaches its rated temperature. No calibration is required. Accuracy is within plus or minus 1 percent of the Fahrenheit rating. Welders, pipefitters, and metalworkers use this tool as a fast, reliable alternative to contact pyrometers or infrared thermometers when a quick visual confirmation of preheat or interpass temperature is needed.
The 28070 is suited for use on a wide range of substrate materials including aluminum, ceramic, glass, iron, plastic, stainless steel, and carbon steel. It is commonly used in structural welding, pressure vessel fabrication, pipe welding, and industrial heat treatment applications. The TEMPIL line covers 116 fixed-temperature increments from 100 degrees F (38 degrees C) to 2000 degrees F (1093 degrees C), allowing technicians to select the exact rating required by a welding procedure specification or heat treat protocol.
