The TEMPIL 28042 is a temperature indicating crayon rated to 488 degrees F (253 degrees C), designed for fast, reliable heat verification on metal and non-metal surfaces. The bullet-tip stick melts instantly at its designated temperature, giving technicians and tradespeople an immediate visual confirmation that a target temperature has been reached. No calibration is required, and the crayon is accurate to within plus or minus 1 percent of the Fahrenheit rating and plus or minus 3 percent of the Celsius rating. It is part of a 116-temperature range series spanning 100 degrees F (38 degrees C) to 2000 degrees F (1093 degrees C), making it a practical tool across a wide variety of heat-process applications.
This crayon is used by welders, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, electricians, and industrial maintenance crews wherever surface temperature must be confirmed before, during, or after a heat process. Common applications include preheat verification before welding, post-weld heat treatment monitoring, and checking component temperatures during brazing or soldering operations. Compatible surfaces include aluminum, ceramic, glass, iron, plastic, stainless steel, and carbon steel, making this crayon suitable for both light-gauge sheet metal work and heavy fabrication environments.
Designed for use on aluminum, ceramic, glass, iron, plastic, stainless steel, and steel surfaces across welding, brazing, HVAC, and industrial heat-process applications.
Temperature indicating crayons are applied directly to the work surface before or during heating. Mark the surface away from the direct flame or heat source and observe the mark as temperature rises. No special tools are required. Follow applicable safety procedures for the heat process being performed, including appropriate PPE for the work environment.
