The TELEMECANIQUE ST08001 is an AC solid-state proximity sensor switch designed for conductivity-based presence sensing in industrial control applications. Operating at 120 VAC with a 3-amp current output, it uses solid-state electronics with no moving parts, eliminating the need for a relay in most circuits. The die-cast zinc enclosure carries a NEMA 1/4/13 rating, making it suitable for general-purpose, oil-tight, and dust-tight environments. A 3-foot SJTO cable provides direct wiring without additional connectors. Licensed electricians and controls technicians are the primary installers for this type of sensor.
This sensor is suited for residential and light industrial automation panels, machine control circuits, and process equipment where precise conductive-material detection is required. The ST08001 performs well in applications demanding fast response without warm-up time, such as liquid-level detection or conductive-object presence verification. Its wide operating temperature range of -40 to 70 degrees C supports use in cold-storage or outdoor-rated enclosures where ambient conditions fluctuate significantly.
The ST08001 carries an alternate catalog number of XCMH2910L2. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit sensor for 120 VAC solid-state control circuits requiring conductivity-based proximity detection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. Disconnect and lock out all power to the control circuit before wiring or replacing the sensor. Verify that the load current does not exceed the 3-amp rating of the output; exceeding this value will damage the solid-state output stage. The 1.7-milliampere leakage current should be accounted for in circuit design, particularly with sensitive relay coils or PLC input modules.
