The TELEMECANIQUE SENSORS XS8C4A1MPN12 is a rectangular inductive proximity sensor designed for non-contact detection of metallic targets in industrial and commercial automation applications. It delivers a 20 mm detection distance and supports both NPN and PNP output modes in a 2-wire configuration, giving installers flexibility across different control architectures. The sensor operates at 25 Hz and 50 Hz response frequencies and is rated IP65, IP67, and IP69 for protection against dust, water ingress, and high-pressure washdowns. The housing is constructed from polybutylene terephthalate, providing durability in demanding environments. Licensed electricians and automation technicians are the primary installers of this device.
This sensor is suited for industrial automation systems, conveyor lines, machine tool installations, and process control equipment where reliable metallic target detection is required. Its rectangular body shape allows straightforward panel or bracket mounting in tight spaces. The 2-wire output simplifies wiring runs and reduces termination points at the control panel. Screw clamp connector termination makes field installation and replacement efficient. Both light-duty and heavier-load circuits are supported, with maximum load capacity ranging from 5 to 200 mA or 5 to 300 mA depending on output configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install inductive proximity sensor for industrial automation control systems requiring a rectangular-body, 2-wire NPN or PNP sensor with a 20 mm detection range.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or automation technician familiar with low-voltage control wiring and applicable NEC requirements. De-energize the control circuit and lock out power before removing or installing the sensor. Screw clamp terminals should be tightened with an appropriate small flat-blade screwdriver to the terminal manufacturer specification. Verify output mode compatibility with the connected controller input before powering the circuit.
