The TELEMECANIQUE SENSORS XS618B1MAL2 is a cylinder shielded inductive proximity sensor designed for non-contact detection of metallic targets in industrial automation and control applications. Built around an M18 threaded brass housing, this 2-wire sensor operates across a wide supply voltage range of 24 to 240 volts AC or DC, making it compatible with a broad range of control circuits without additional signal conditioning. It delivers a normally open (NO) output with a detection distance of 0.31 inches (8 mm) and a response frequency of 1,000 Hz, supporting high-cycle-rate machine environments. Rated IP68 and IP69K, the sensor withstands washdown, submersion, and high-pressure cleaning common in demanding industrial settings.
This sensor is used in discrete manufacturing, conveyor systems, packaging machinery, machine tool applications, and process automation where reliable metallic target detection is required. Its 2-wire wiring scheme simplifies integration into existing control panel wiring. The wide AC/DC voltage range makes it suitable for both legacy relay-based systems and modern PLC input modules. The shielded flush-mount design allows installation in tight clearances or flush-mounted in metal brackets without sacrificing detection performance.
Designed as an OEM-style inductive proximity sensor for industrial control and automation systems requiring an M18 cylinder shielded 2-wire sensor with a 24 to 240 volt AC/DC input range and normally open output.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or industrial controls technician in accordance with NEC guidelines and the equipment manufacturer's wiring specifications. De-energize the control circuit and verify zero voltage before making or breaking any wiring connections. The M18x1 threaded body mounts using standard hex nuts or a panel bracket; avoid over-tightening against the brass housing. Confirm that the target material and approach angle are consistent with inductive sensor operating requirements before commissioning.
