The TELEMECANIQUE SENSORS XS612B1PAL2 is a shielded cylindrical inductive proximity sensor designed for reliable non-contact detection of metallic targets in industrial automation and machine control applications. Built around an M12 threaded brass housing with a 2.09-inch overall length, it delivers a detection distance of 0.16 inches (4 mm) and operates on 12 to 48 volts DC. The PNP output with normally open (NO) switching suits standard sourcing input cards on PLCs and control panels. With a response frequency of 2,500 Hz, it handles fast-moving target detection without signal lag. Installation and maintenance are handled by licensed electricians or qualified automation technicians.
This sensor fits residential and commercial industrial equipment, assembly lines, conveyor systems, packaging machinery, and motion-detection interlocks where a compact M12 form factor is required. It connects via a 3-wire cable and threads directly into standard M12 x 1 tapped sensor mounts. The IP68 and IP69K ingress protection ratings make it suitable for wash-down environments, wet processing lines, and outdoor enclosures where moisture and pressure cleaning are routine. The shock-resistant and vibration-resistant construction supports use on equipment subject to continuous mechanical stress.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct installation sensor for industrial control systems requiring an M12 x 1 threaded cylindrical inductive proximity sensor with PNP normally open output and 12 to 48 volt DC supply.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or automation technician in accordance with applicable NEC guidelines and the equipment manufacturer's wiring documentation. Power down the control circuit and verify zero voltage at the sensor wiring before making or breaking connections. The M12 x 1 threaded housing should be torqued into its mounting bracket by hand and secured with the provided locknut — do not use pliers directly on the sensor body. Verify output polarity and load wiring match the PLC input card specifications before restoring power.
