Product Description

The TELEMECANIQUE SENSORS XS612B1MAL2 is a shielded cylindrical inductive proximity sensor designed for reliable non-contact detection of metallic targets in demanding industrial environments. Built with an M12 brass housing and rated IP68 and IP69K, it withstands wash-down, submersion, and high-pressure cleaning cycles. The sensor operates on 24 to 240 volts AC or DC, making it compatible with a wide range of control panel configurations without requiring a separate power supply selection. It delivers a detection distance of 0.16 inches (4 mm) and supports a response frequency of up to 1,000 Hz, making it suitable for high-speed counting and positioning applications. Licensed electricians and automation technicians are the primary installers.

This sensor is well suited for machine tool, conveyor, packaging, and assembly line applications where a compact M12 form factor is required. The two-wire normally open (NO) output simplifies wiring into existing control circuits. Its shock-resistant and vibration-resistant construction supports use in high-cycle machinery subject to continuous mechanical stress. The sensor is sold individually and ships as a single unit per package.

Key Features

  • Shielded cylinder body with M12x1 threaded housing for flush mounting in metal brackets
  • IP68 and IP69K ingress protection rated for submersion and high-pressure wash-down
  • Operates across 24 to 240 volts AC/DC — broad voltage range reduces SKU proliferation on mixed-voltage panels
  • 1,000 Hz response frequency supports high-speed target detection and counting applications
  • Two-wire NO output with up to 300 mA load capacity
  • Brass housing with shock-resistant and vibration-resistant design for harsh duty cycles
  • Certified to CE, CSA, UL, RoHS, IEC 60529, IEC 60068-2-27, IEC 60068-2-6, and DIN 40050

Compatibility

Designed as a direct-replacement or new-installation inductive proximity sensor for industrial control systems requiring an M12 shielded cylindrical sensor with two-wire NO output and broad AC/DC voltage compatibility.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or automation technician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements and the equipment manufacturer's wiring diagrams. Isolate and de-energize the control circuit before making any wiring connections. The two-wire cable output connects directly into the control loop; verify load current does not exceed 300 mA. Confirm mounting depth and target material before final adjustment, as detection distance is rated for standard mild steel targets.
