The TECHNIKS 05592 is an ER32 tap collet designed to hold hand taps in CNC machining centers, tapping heads, and mill-turn setups. The collet accepts a 6 mm shank diameter and features a 4.5 mm square drive socket that positively engages the tap shank, preventing slippage during both forward and reverse cycles. It fits standard ER32 collet chucks and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians performing tapped-hole operations in production or job-shop environments. Through-coolant and tension-compression functions are not incorporated into this collet.
This collet is suited for hand-tap holding applications where a rigid, square-drive connection is required. Compatible tap sizes include M5, M6, and M8 hand taps with shanks fitting within the 6 mm collet bore. It is used in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and benchtop tapping machines equipped with ER32 toolholding systems. The rigid drive design is appropriate for rigid tapping cycles where the machine spindle controls feed rate synchronized to tap pitch.
Compatible with M5, M6, and M8 hand taps with 6 mm shank diameters. Fits any ER32 collet chuck accepting standard ER32 collets.
Installation is performed by the machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing collets. Seat the collet fully into the ER32 nut before threading onto the chuck body, and torque the collet nut to the tool holder manufacturer specification using an ER collet wrench. Inspect the square drive socket and tap shank flats for wear or damage before each use to ensure positive drive engagement.
