The TECHNIKS 05548 is a rigid tap collet designed for use in ER25 collet chucks during rigid tapping operations. It accepts a 9 mm collet bore and is sized for M12 hand taps, providing a secure, non-slip grip that maintains precise axial alignment between the spindle and tap. Unlike tension-compression tap holders, this collet relies on the machine's synchronized feed rate to control tap depth, making it appropriate for CNC machining centers with rigid tapping capability. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this collet as part of a standard ER25 tooling setup.
This collet is suited for rigid tapping applications in CNC vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, and CNC lathes equipped with ER25 toolholders. The 9 mm bore accommodates M12 hand taps with a 7 mm square drive. It is intended for shops running ferrous and non-ferrous materials where thread quality and repeatability are critical. Through-coolant is not supported by this collet, so flood or mist coolant delivery should be used externally during tapping cycles.
Designed for use with ER25 collet chucks in rigid tapping setups; accepts M12 hand taps with a 9 mm shank and 7 mm square drive.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before installing or removing collets from the chuck. Ensure the collet is fully seated in the ER25 nut before torquing the nut to the chuck body per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm that the machine control is configured for rigid tapping mode before initiating any tapping cycle.
