The TB WOODS TB-6J78 is a finished bore sleeve coupling flange designed for close-coupled shaft connections in rotating equipment applications. Sized at coupling size 6 with a 4-inch outside diameter and a 7/8-inch round keyed bore, this flange mounts directly to a keyed shaft with tight bore tolerances of plus 0.0005 to plus 0.0015 inches. It pairs with a matched sleeve insert to complete the coupling assembly. The cast iron hub body delivers durability in demanding mechanical environments. Rated to 6,000 RPM maximum speed, it accommodates both angular and parallel misalignment while absorbing shock, vibration, and end float through a 4-way flexing action. Licensed mechanical tradespeople and industrial maintenance technicians are the typical installers.
The TB-6J78 coupling flange suits a broad range of rotating equipment in both light industrial and commercial settings. Typical applications include compressors, conveyors, motors, and pumps where a reliable close-coupled shaft connection is required. The flange is chemical resistant and oil resistant, making it appropriate for wet or chemically active environments such as pump rooms and process equipment areas. Two set screws are included, positioned one over the keyseat and one at 90 degrees, securing the flange to the shaft without additional hardware.
Designed as a coupling size 6 OEM-style sleeve coupling flange for use with compatible matched sleeve inserts on keyed shafts in compressor, conveyor, motor, and pump drive train assemblies.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed millwright or industrial maintenance mechanic. De-energize and lock out all connected equipment before mounting or removing coupling components in accordance with applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify shaft and bore dimensions and keyway fit before final assembly. Do not exceed the rated maximum speed of 6,000 RPM in the application.
