The TACO TAC-Z050T2-3 is a 0.5-inch, normally closed Zone Sentry zone valve designed for hydronic heating and cooling zoning applications. Operating on 24 volts AC at 60 Hz, it draws 0.48 amps and delivers a flow coefficient (Cv) of 4.9 through a 2-way body pattern with threaded end connections. The valve includes an end switch for integration with zone controls or circulators. It is rated for fluid temperatures from 20 degrees F to 220 degrees F and a maximum operating pressure of 300 psi, making it well-suited for both low-temperature radiant and high-temperature baseboard systems. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers.
This valve is used in residential and light commercial hydronic zoning systems where individual zones must be controlled independently. The normally closed configuration ensures the valve stays shut when de-energized, preventing unwanted flow to idle zones. The threaded connection type makes it compatible with standard pipe fitting practices. The built-in end switch allows it to trigger a circulator pump or boiler aquastat upon full valve opening, a common requirement in multi-zone hydronic layouts.
Designed as an OEM-style zone valve for use in residential and light commercial hydronic zoning systems requiring a 0.5-inch normally closed threaded valve with end switch capability.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician familiar with hydronic piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the hydronic loop before making any pipe connections, and de-energize the zone control wiring before wiring the valve actuator. Verify that the valve flow arrow on the body is oriented correctly relative to system flow direction. Follow applicable local plumbing codes and the system manufacturer wiring diagram when connecting the end switch terminals to the zone controller or circulator relay.
