The SUPERIOR ESSEX 6B-272-2B is a Category 6A plenum-rated (CMP) network cable designed for structured cabling installations that require 10-Gigabit Ethernet performance. Built with 23 AWG conductors in a 4-pair configuration, this cable meets the demands of high-density data centers, enterprise networks, and commercial building infrastructure. The plenum jacket rating makes it compliant for installation in air-handling spaces without conduit, a common requirement in commercial construction. Licensed network installers and low-voltage technicians are the primary trades working with this cable.
This cable is suited for horizontal runs in commercial and enterprise environments where 10GBase-T performance is required. The 1,000-foot pull box quantity supports full-floor installations and reduces the need for mid-run splices. The blue jacket aids in cable identification and color-coded patch management. It is appropriate for use in plenum ceiling spaces, raised-floor environments, and air-return pathways where CMP-rated cable is required by code.
Designed as an OEM-style structured cabling solution compatible with standard Cat 6A keystone jacks, patch panels, and RJ-45 terminations that conform to TIA-568 wiring specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage technician or structured cabling installer in accordance with TIA-568 and local building codes. De-energize any adjacent electrical systems before pulling cable through shared pathways. Maintain minimum bend radius and avoid exceeding the cable pull-tension rating to prevent pair damage and performance degradation. Plenum spaces must be confirmed as code-compliant air-handling areas before substituting CMP cable for conduit-run alternatives.
