The SUPERIOR ABRASIVES A009796 is a chamfering cone point mandrel designed to mount and drive chamfering cone abrasive points in rotary tools and die grinders. The mandrel features a 0.875-inch compatible point diameter and a 0.25-inch shank diameter, allowing it to seat securely in standard collets and chucks. This type of mandrel serves as the interface between the tool spindle and the abrasive cone, transmitting rotational force while holding the cone point concentrically. Metalworking shops, fabricators, and tool-and-die professionals typically use this hardware when deburring, chamfering, or blending edges on metal workpieces.
This mandrel is intended for use with 7/8-inch chamfering cone abrasive points in bench or portable rotary tool setups. It is suited for applications in metal fabrication, maintenance and repair operations, and light manufacturing where consistent chamfering geometry is required. The 1/4-inch shank fits the collets found on most die grinders and rotary tools commonly used in these trades.
Designed for use with 7/8-inch chamfering cone abrasive points. Fits rotary tools and die grinders equipped with a 1/4-inch collet or chuck.
Installation is typically performed by machinists, fabricators, or maintenance technicians using standard die grinders or rotary tools. Before mounting or changing the mandrel, ensure the tool is powered off and unplugged or the air supply is disconnected. Thread or press the chamfering cone point onto the mandrel according to the cone manufacturer's instructions, then tighten the shank into the collet to the tool manufacturer's specified setting. Verify the cone is seated without wobble before operating the tool.
