The SUPERIOR ABRASIVES A009760 is a 2-inch wide, 50-yard aluminum oxide shop roll designed for general-purpose material removal and surface preparation in trade and industrial settings. Built on a J-weight cloth backing, this roll delivers flexibility for contour sanding and tight-radius work while maintaining enough body to hold up on flat stock. The 60-grit abrasive cuts aggressively enough for stock removal and weld blending, making it a practical choice for metal fabrication shops, HVAC duct work, pipefitting, and general mechanical maintenance environments. The red-colored aluminum oxide grain is a standard workhorse abrasive suited to ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as hardwood.
This shop roll is well suited to maintenance technicians, pipefitters, HVAC installers, and fabricators who need a roll they can tear to length on the job. The 50-yard length provides enough material for extended production runs or repeated field use without frequent restocking. A 2-inch width is a commonly used size for hand-sanding pipes, tube stock, welds, and flat surfaces where a narrower profile is needed to access confined areas or follow curves. Typical applications include deburring, scale removal, surface conditioning before coating, and prep work ahead of brazing or welding.
Designed as a general-purpose hand shop roll compatible with standard roll-filing holders and hand-sanding applications requiring a 2-inch wide cloth-backed abrasive roll.
No power tools or electrical shutoff is required for hand-sanding applications. When used on powered sanding frames or file holders, ensure the workpiece is secure and appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection and gloves is worn. Avoid using this roll on rotating machinery unless the holder is specifically rated for roll stock. Discard the roll when abrasive loading or grain breakdown reduces cutting efficiency.
