The SUPERIOR ABRASIVES A009472 is a shank-mounted flap wheel designed for surface finishing, blending, and deburring on metal and other hard materials. It features a 2-inch outside diameter with a 1-inch face width and runs on a 1/4-inch shank, making it compatible with standard die grinders and rotary tools. The abrasive material is silicon carbide at 60 grit, a medium grade well suited for moderate stock removal and surface prep work. The backing is cotton cloth rated X weight, which provides firm support during contact. Maximum operating speed is 23,000 RPM. This wheel is installed and used by machinists, fabricators, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians who need consistent, controlled finishing in tight or contoured areas.
This mounted flap wheel is used in industrial maintenance, metal fabrication shops, and field service applications. It is especially effective for finishing inside bores, contoured surfaces, and areas where a flat grinding wheel cannot reach. The coated silicon carbide construction makes it a solid choice for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as composites and harder plastics. It is sold individually and is well suited to production environments where multiple units are stocked for rotation during extended runs.
Designed for use with die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 1/4-inch shank. Suitable for surface finishing and deburring applications on metal, composites, and similar materials.
This wheel is installed by machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians using standard die grinders or rotary tools. Before mounting, confirm the tool spindle speed does not exceed 23,000 RPM, as operating above the rated speed is a safety hazard. Inspect the flap wheel for damage before each use and discard any wheel showing torn flaps or a cracked shank. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures when operating abrasive tooling.
