The SUPERIOR ABRASIVES A007268 is a quick-change disc backing pad designed for use with right angle die grinders in industrial and trade grinding applications. It features a 1/4 inch shank diameter and a medium density construction, providing consistent support for quick-change abrasive discs during metal fabrication, weld blending, and surface preparation work. Rated to 30,000 RPM, the pad is built for high-speed operation in demanding shop and field conditions. Type R quick-change compatibility makes disc swaps fast without tools, reducing downtime during repetitive finishing tasks. Licensed tradespeople and experienced fabricators are the primary users of this component.
This backing pad fits standard quick-change disc setups and is suited for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, composites, and other materials where a right angle die grinder is the preferred tool. It is commonly found in metal fabrication shops, automotive body repair, pipe fitting, and general maintenance environments where controlled, high-speed surface work is required. Its medium grade density provides a balance between pad flexibility and disc support across a range of disc diameters compatible with right angle die grinders.
Designed for use with right angle die grinders accepting a 1/4 inch shank. Compatible with Type R quick-change abrasive discs. Refer to your tool and disc manufacturer specifications to confirm fitment before installation.
Installation is typically performed by machinists, fabricators, or maintenance technicians familiar with die grinder tooling. Before mounting or removing the backing pad, disconnect the air supply or power source to the grinder completely. Secure the shank into the collet according to the tool manufacturer torque and tightening guidance. Always verify that the disc and pad assembly RPM rating meets or exceeds the grinder free-speed rating before operation, and inspect the pad for wear or damage before each use.
