The SUMITOMO U104125 is a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) turning insert designed for precision machining of hard and difficult-to-cut materials. Manufactured in the CCG series with a diamond-shaped cutting geometry, this insert carries an 80-degree included angle and a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. The insert measures 0.0945 inches in length with a 1/32-inch corner radius and a 3/32-inch thickness. With a neutral hand orientation, positive rake, and screw-type holding method, it is suited for demanding turning operations on CNC lathes and other rigid machine tool setups. Machinists and tooling specialists working in production environments are the primary users.
This insert is intended for turning applications involving cast iron, hard materials, and superalloys, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes H, K, and S. It fits demanding production and job-shop environments where conventional carbide tooling reaches its performance limits. The grade BN7500 PCBN material is appropriate for interrupted and continuous cuts on hardened ferrous components and high-temperature alloy workpieces. The CCG series with chip breaker code A supports controlled chip formation in these challenging materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for toolholders accepting CCG-series diamond inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 3/32-inch thickness, and screw-type clamping, conforming to ANSI and ISO 13399 specifications.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and all motion fully stopped. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert. Never force the insert into the pocket, as improper seating can cause premature edge failure or workpiece damage.
