Installation and tip exchange should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer lockout/tagout procedures before handling tooling. Use the appropriate torque wrench and Sumitomo-specified seat screws when seating the carbide tip to ensure proper clamping without over-torquing. Inspect the drill body seat for chips, damage, or debris before mounting the replacement tip, as contamination on the seating surface will affect runout and drill life. Ensure through-coolant pressure and flow rate meet the machine and tooling specifications before initiating a cut.
