The SUMITOMO U101350 is an ACX70-grade carbide replaceable tip drill from the SMD series, designed for precision hole-making in steel and ferrous workpiece materials. The insert tip is solid carbide with an MTL geometry and a dual-layer TiAlCr and TiSi coating that resists heat and wear at elevated cutting speeds. The drill features a 140-degree included point angle and an 11/16-inch diameter, making it well suited for through-hole applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. Through-coolant capability delivers fluid directly to the cutting edge to evacuate chips and manage heat in deep or interrupted cuts.
This replaceable tip drill is intended for production machining environments where steel is the primary workpiece material. The ACX70 grade and TiAlCr/TiSi finish are optimized for ISO P-category materials, including carbon steels, alloy steels, and cast steels. Typical applications include CNC turning centers and machining centers performing precision drilling operations where tool life consistency and hole quality are required across high-volume runs. The SMD series design allows tip replacement without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time on the floor.
Designed for use with compatible SMD series drill bodies accepting the MTL replaceable tip interface. Intended for ISO P-category steel workpiece materials. Confirm body bore and tip size match before installation.
Installation of replaceable tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer torque and seating procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before handling or replacing the tip. Use the correct tip-mounting wrench supplied with the SMD body to seat the tip fully and evenly. Inspect the tip pocket and coolant ports for damage or debris before each tip change.
