The SUMITOMO U101052 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from solid carbide with a coated finish, this bit delivers the rigidity and heat resistance needed when drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The 135-degree split-point geometry reduces thrust and self-centers on entry without a pilot hole. At 13/64 inch (0.2031 inches) in diameter, it fits standard toolholders with a straight-cylindrical shank. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed operations where chip evacuation and thermal management are critical. The bit belongs to the MDW-HGS series and is sized for stub-length drilling tasks on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
This bit is suited for production drilling in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance environments where ferrous metals are the primary workpiece material. The screw machine (stub) length geometry provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, reducing deflection in short-hole applications. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. When using coolant-through capability, verify coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine spindle specifications to avoid thermal shock to the carbide substrate.
