The SUMITOMO 5VHY192 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal cutting in demanding production environments. Ground to an 8 mm (0.3150 inches) diameter with a 135-degree split-point geometry, it delivers fast, accurate penetration with minimal walking on entry. The TiAlCr and TiSi dual-coating system provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and alloy steels. With an overall length of 118 mm (4.6457 inches) and a 64 mm (2.5197 inches) flute length, it fits standard machining centers and drill presses. Coolant-through capability supports high-feed cycle times and chip evacuation in through-hole applications.
The 5VHY192 belongs to the MDW-HGS series and is suited for CNC machining centers, production drilling cells, and manual drill press operations in metal fabrication and machining shops. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), carbon and alloy steel (P), and superalloys (S). The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collet chucks, hydraulic holders, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 8 mm shanks. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports moderate-depth holes without pausing for chip clearance in most ferrous applications.
Designed for use in 8 mm straight-shank toolholders including collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders. Compatible with workpiece material codes K, M, P, and S as defined by the MDW-HGS series application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or removing the bit from the holder. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the holder is torqued or clamped per the toolholder manufacturer specification before engaging the spindle. Verify coolant-through supply pressure and flow rate are matched to the machine spindle before beginning the first drilling cycle.
