The SUMITOMO 4UJF216 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It runs a 0.0787-inch (2.00 mm) mill diameter with a 0.1575-inch (4.00 mm) length of cut and four spiral flutes with a variable helix angle of 30 degrees. The TiAlCrN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, and right-hand cut with right-hand flute orientation makes this a standard-rotation tool compatible with conventional CNC machining centers. It belongs to Sumitomo's GSX series, engineered for fine-grain carbide substrate rigidity at small diameters.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, H, and S. The 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collets and shrink-fit holders used on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The standard-length neck, 5.00 mm neck length, and 40.00 mm overall length make it appropriate for close-tolerance slot milling, profiling, and finishing passes in die, mold, and precision component work. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shop and production environments are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers accepting a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpiece materials classified under Sumitomo material codes H, K, M, P, and S as stated in the product specifications.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Confirm shank runout and collet condition before seating the tool, as runout at this diameter directly affects edge life and surface finish. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and coating type. Always verify tool projection length and clearance before initiating a new program.
