The SUMITOMO 2S00051 is a 90-degree indexable chamfer angle face mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting applications. Built to HF Series specifications, this cutter accepts 6 NF-LDEN inserts secured by clamp and screw holding, providing a rigid and repeatable cutting platform. The body features a 2.5 inch minimum cutting diameter with a maximum body diameter of 2.579 inches, a 1 inch arbor hole, and a maximum depth of cut of 2 inches. Through-coolant capability supports extended tool life at elevated spindle speeds up to 13,000 RPM. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in shop and production environments, this face mill suits both roughing and finishing passes on steel, cast iron, and similar materials.
The 2S00051 is suited for horizontal and vertical milling machine setups requiring a right-hand cut orientation. Its 6-flute geometry delivers high feed rates and smooth surface finishes in facing operations. The through-coolant design keeps insert temperatures controlled during deep cuts up to 2 inches, making it appropriate for production milling cycles where thermal management affects dimensional accuracy. The HF Series designation indicates compatibility with Sumitomo's HFM cutter style platform, which targets high-efficiency face milling in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Compatible insert is NF-LDEN12T3ZD. This face mill is designed for use with Sumitomo HF Series NF-LDEN insert geometry in HFM cutter style toolholding. Verify arbor hole diameter of 1 inch against your machine spindle or toolholder before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and retention procedures. Power down and lock out the milling machine spindle before mounting or dismounting the cutter body. Inspect insert pockets and clamping screws for debris or damage before seating new inserts. Confirm coolant port alignment with the machine spindle coolant-through system before initiating the first cut.
