The SUMITOMO 1NHM933 is a DCGT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Featuring a 55-degree diamond insert shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle, this insert is engineered for efficient chip control and clean surface finishes. The AC530U grade substrate carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCrN coating applied via PVD process under Sumitomo's Super ZX proprietary designation. The EFC chip breaker geometry supports consistent chip evacuation across a range of cutting conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible screw-lock toolholders for finish and semi-finish turning operations.
This insert is suited for finish turning of stainless steel (ISO material group M) and other demanding workpiece materials in both production and job-shop environments. The screw-holding method and DCGT geometry make it appropriate for internal and external turning passes where precise dimensional control is required. The neutral hand designation allows flexible toolholder orientation. The ISO code for this insert is DCGT11T304N-FC, and it conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, supporting integration with tool management and digital manufacturing systems.
Designed as a DCGT-style screw-lock turning insert compatible with DC-series toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 55-degree diamond insert with a G tolerance and C clearance code per ANSI and ISO 13399 specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specification to seat the insert securely without over-torquing. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and dimensional accuracy.
