The SUMITOMO 19W1337 is a WNMG432EGU-style solid carbide turning insert designed for steel turning applications in CNC lathe and turning center operations. Coated with Sumitomo's Absotech CVD finish in the AC8020P grade, this insert delivers consistent performance on primary and secondary steel workpiece materials. The negative rake geometry and 80-degree included angle provide strong cutting edge support under interrupted and continuous cutting conditions. Key dimensional specs include a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.3425-inch insert length, 0.1874-inch thickness, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. It is held by clamp and pin and carries an ISO code of WNMG080408N-GU.
This insert is suited for medium to finish turning of steel components in both production and job-shop environments. The EGU chip breaker geometry is optimized for steel grades, making it appropriate for general-purpose turning where consistent chip control and surface finish are required. The AC8020P material grade (P20) targets medium-carbon and alloy steels at moderate cutting parameters. Machinists and CNC programmers working on steel shaft, flange, and sleeve parts will find this insert suitable for both roughing and semi-finish passes depending on feed and depth of cut selection.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement carbide turning insert for use in standard WNMG-style toolholders accepting a 432 insert size. Verify toolholder pocket geometry, clamp style, and shim requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all motion is locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Clean the insert pocket and shim seat of chips and debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed toolholder torque specifications as provided by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamp screw.
