The SUMITOMO 19T5336 is a CNMG-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. Coated with TiAlSiN via a PVD process under the Absotech Bronze designation, this insert delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a corner radius of 0.0469 inches, and a thickness of 0.1875 inches. The neutral hand orientation and negative rake geometry suit it to rigid setups on CNC turning centers. It is indexed using a screw-holding method and belongs to the AC5000S series, grade AC5015S.
This insert is engineered for light to medium machining of non-ferrous metals and superalloys, aligning with primary workpiece material code S. Typical applications include turning of nickel-based alloys, titanium, and other high-temperature alloys where tool life and edge stability are critical. The EGU chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut suited to finish and semi-finish passes. It conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG433 and ISO insert code CNMG120412, making it a direct fit in standard CNMG toolholders.
