The SUMITOMO 19RJW9Y is a solid carbide coated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ANSI designation TCMT32.52ENK and ISO code TCMT16T308N-SK, placing it in the TC series of triangular inserts. The insert measures 0.6496 inches in length with a 3/8-inch (0.3750-inch) inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. Applied via CVD coating, the AC820P grade delivers thermal resistance and wear performance suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is rated for primary use on stainless steel and similar M-group workpiece materials, with strong secondary performance on P-group steels. Its neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of tool holder configurations without directional restriction. The TCMT style with screw holding method suits through-hole insert seats commonly found on external turning and facing toolholders. It is a practical choice for production turning applications in job shops, aerospace component machining, and general metalworking environments where consistent edge life and chip control are required.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 7-degree relief angle. Compatible toolholders must accommodate the ANSI code TCMT32.52 insert size. Verify holder seat geometry and screw bore diameter before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or rotating the insert. Inspect the insert seat pocket for chips or debris before installation, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Use only the manufacturer-recommended clamping screw and avoid over-torquing, which can crack the carbide substrate.
