The SUMITOMO 19RJW8L is a solid carbide CVD-coated turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation TCMT21.51ENK and ISO code TCMT110204N-SK, placing it in the TC series. The insert is neutral-hand, triangular in shape with a 60-degree included angle, and features the ENK chip breaker geometry. Coating is applied via CVD process using the AC820P grade, optimized for positive-rake cutting. The insert measures 0.4331 inches in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0937-inch thickness, and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). It is held by screw-clamping and carries clearance code C and tolerance code M.
This insert is suited for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces, with primary workpiece material designations M and P under ISO classification. The ENK chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium to finishing cuts in these material groups. It is appropriate for use in production turning environments where consistent chip control and surface finish are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments are the primary users of this insert. The insert is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 10 per the manufacturer minimum order quantity.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle triangular insert. Compatible toolholders must accommodate the TC series insert geometry with clearance code C and tolerance code M. Consult the toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm proper seat fit before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and clamping screw when seating the insert to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert, and never re-use a visibly worn or chipped cutting edge in a finish-cut application.
