The SUMITOMO 19RJW23 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, this insert carries the CCMT32.52ENK designation and is produced in the AC820P grade — a CVD-coated carbide grade engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability. The diamond-shaped (80-degree included angle) geometry with a positive rake and neutral hand orientation suits a wide range of turning applications. The ENK chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during moderate cutting conditions. Insert holding is via screw clamp, consistent with standard CCMT-style toolholders.
The 19RJW23 is suited for machining ISO material groups M and P, with a primary application focus on stainless steels and carbon and alloy steels. It is appropriate for use in both roughing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and edge durability are priorities. Machinists and CNC operators in production environments, tool cribs, and job shops will find this insert compatible with standard CCMT screw-on toolholders. Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value — do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating the new insert. Index or replace the insert at the first sign of edge wear to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish on the workpiece.
