The SUMITOMO 19RJCED is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries the ANSI designation DNMG443EME and ISO code DNMG150612N-ME, featuring a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. The insert is finished with an Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) coating applied via CVD process, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts on steel. The AC820P manufacturer grade and EME chip breaker geometry work together to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces in medium to finishing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning steel workpieces, consistent with its Secondary Workpiece Material Code P classification. It is appropriate for use on CNC lathes in both production and job-shop environments where a 55-degree diamond insert with positive rake and a 0.0469-inch corner radius is specified. The DN series and DNMG insert style make it a common fit in toolholders designed for negative-style, double-sided diamond inserts with a clamp and pin holding method. It is applicable in light roughing through finishing passes on carbon and alloy steels.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 55-degree diamond insert with clamp and pin holding and a clearance code N. Compatible with steel workpiece materials per P-class classification. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all power is locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket surfaces before tightening the clamp to ensure accurate edge positioning. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris or wear that could affect insert seating and edge runout.
