The SUMITOMO 19RJBJT is a CVD-coated solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ANSI grade designation TNMG431 and ISO code TNMG220404, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake geometry. The AC820P grade coating delivers high wear resistance combined with moderate toughness, making it well suited for both steel and cast iron workpiece materials. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert length is 0.8661 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch), supporting consistent surface finish in finishing and light machining passes.
The 19RJBJT is intended for finishing and light machining operations on steel (ISO material group P) and cast iron (ISO material group K). The ESX chip breaker geometry is optimized for these lower-depth-of-cut, higher-speed applications where surface quality and dimensional accuracy are critical. Typical installation scenarios include production turning on horizontal and vertical CNC lathes in job shops and manufacturing facilities. The insert is compatible with standard TNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp or pin holding methods with a negative clearance (N) configuration.
Designed for use in standard TNMG-style toolholders that accept negative-rake triangular inserts with clamp or pin holding. Compatible with ISO and ANSI tooling systems specifying TNMG431 or TNMG220404 insert seats. Primary workpiece material codes P (steel) and K (cast iron). Material grades C5A, C6, C7, and C8.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the chip breaker's recommended depth-of-cut and feed rate ranges for the ESX geometry to avoid premature edge failure.
