The SUMITOMO 19RJAKS is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG432EMX geometry, coated with an AC820P-grade CVD coating for extended tool life in demanding turning operations. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape (shape code D), neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake angle. The corner radius measures 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch) and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.5000 inches (1/2 inch). Insert length is 0.6102 inches and insert thickness is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch). The EMX chip breaker geometry is designed to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. This insert is held by clamp and pin methods and conforms to both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing external and internal turning, facing, and profiling operations. The AC820P grade with CVD coating targets ISO material groups M and P, with a primary focus on steel workpieces. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and edge stability are priorities. Machinists and CNC setup technicians working in job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance turning applications will find this insert fits standard DNMG-style toolholders. Material grades C5A, C6, C7, and C8 are supported.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for DNMG432EMX-style turning inserts used in standard DNMG clamp-and-pin toolholders. Compatible with toolholders and boring bars engineered for the DNMG insert style with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder pocket tolerance and clamping style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures applied before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure; do not over-tighten the clamping screw, as this can crack the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating the insert. Confirm insert orientation matches the neutral hand designation required by the programmed toolpath.
