The SUMITOMO 19RJ910 is a TNMG221ENK-grade coated carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the AC820P manufacturer grade and is produced using a CVD coating process, giving it high wear-resistance with moderate toughness across steel and cast iron workpiece materials. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape (ANSI Insert Code TNMG221, ISO Insert Code TNMG110304) with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake and side clearance geometry. It is held by clamp or pin methods and suits applications where consistent surface finish and tool life on P- and K-category materials are required.
This insert is suited for finishing cuts on steel and cast iron in both job-shop and production turning environments. The ENK chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations, producing controlled chip flow at light-to-moderate depths of cut. It fits standard TNMG-style toolholders with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and is compatible with the TN series insert platform. Machinists and CNC operators working in general metalworking, automotive, and industrial component machining will find this insert appropriate for achieving tight tolerances and fine surface finishes on steel (P-grade) and cast iron (K-grade) workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for TNMG-style turning toolholders accepting a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, 0.125-inch thick triangular insert. Compatible with clamp and pin style insert pockets in the TN series platform. Primary workpiece material codes P (steel) and K (cast iron). Material grades C5A, C6, C7, and C8.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp or pin to ensure proper seating and prevent insert rocking. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before each insert change, as a damaged pocket will reduce insert life and surface finish quality.
