The SUMITOMO 19RJ792 is a solid carbide CVD-coated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation SNMG432ENG and ISO code SNMG432, with manufacturer grade AC820P — a coated carbide grade engineered for steel and stainless steel workpieces. The square insert geometry (90-degree included angle) provides four usable cutting edges. The ENG chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during medium to finishing passes. At 0.5 inches inscribed circle and 0.5 inches length, this insert fits standard SNMG-style toolholders and is retained by clamp and pin holding method. Installation requires no special tooling beyond a standard torx or hex key for the toolholder clamp.
This insert is suited for external turning, facing, and profiling operations on steel and stainless steel (ISO material groups P and M). The AC820P grade with CVD coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability in continuous and light interrupted cuts at moderate to high cutting speeds. Typical applications include production turning of mild steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, and austenitic stainless steel on horizontal and vertical CNC lathes. The neutral hand designation means this insert is compatible with both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for standard SNMG432 insert seats. Compatible with SNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle square insert with a 0.2030-inch hole diameter and clamp-plus-pin retention. Primary workpiece materials are ISO P (steel) and ISO M (stainless steel).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and confirm clamp and pin engagement before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque specification for SNMG-style inserts.
