The SUMITOMO 19RJ758 is a TNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle and a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for a wide range of turning applications. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and coated with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) via a CVD process using the AC820P grade, which provides thermal resistance and wear performance when cutting steel and similar materials. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 1/32-inch corner radius define its cutting geometry. This insert is installed and swapped by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on production turning equipment.
The 19RJ758 is suited for medium to finishing turning passes in steel workpiece applications, consistent with its P-grade (steel) secondary workpiece material designation. The TNMG332ENZ chip breaker geometry with a 4-degree positive rake angle helps manage chip formation during continuous cuts. The insert is compatible with standard TNMG-style insert toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Typical deployment is in production machining environments where consistent tool life and dimensional accuracy are priorities.
Designed for use in standard TNMG-style indexable insert toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with clamp and pin holding. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert — do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and prevent insert rocking.
