The SUMITOMO 19RJ495 is a CNMM432EHG-style indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with an Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) CVD coating and an AC820P grade designation. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (ANSI code CNMM432EHG, ISO code CNMM120408N-HG) with a neutral rake angle and a 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N, tolerance code M). It measures 0.5079 inches in length with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch (1/32-inch) corner radius. Insert thickness is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch). The EHG chip breaker geometry is suited to controlled-chip applications in turning operations. Licensed machinists and CNC turning-center operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is designed for turning operations on steel workpieces (secondary workpiece material code P), making it appropriate for general-purpose external and internal turning on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The CNMM insert style is held by clamp and pin method, which is standard on a wide range of tool holders designed for the CN series. The AC820P grade with CVD Al2O3 coating provides wear resistance suited to continuous and light-interrupted cuts on steel. This insert is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use in CN-series tool holders that accept CNMM-style inserts held by clamp and pin method. Compatible with tool holders sized for a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and a 0.2031-inch hole diameter. Intended for steel workpiece materials (ISO material group P).
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the tool holder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can cause improper seating and premature edge failure. Verify clamp and pin engagement before resuming cutting operations.
