The SUMITOMO 19R5335 is a CNMG-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries the AC6020M grade with an Absotech Platinum CVD coating, a finish engineered to resist wear and heat buildup during continuous and interrupted cuts on stainless steel. The insert features a diamond (80-degree) shape with a neutral cutting direction, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The EGU chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during medium to finishing passes. Machinists, tool and die specialists, and CNC operators install this insert as a replaceable cutting edge in compatible CNMG toolholders.
This insert is rated primarily for stainless steel (ISO workpiece material code M, material grade M20), making it well suited to turning austenitic and other difficult-to-machine stainless alloys. It performs in both production and job-shop environments where surface finish consistency and tool life are critical. The negative rake angle and 0-degree relief (clearance code N, tolerance code M) are standard for rigid, high-load cutting setups. The insert is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement carbide turning insert for use in CNMG-style toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with pin and screw holding method. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
Insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release the clamping screw or pin, seat the new insert fully in the pocket, and re-torque the clamp fastener per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
