The SUMITOMO 19PWCFY is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for general and finish turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide and coated with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) via CVD process, this insert carries the AC630M manufacturer grade designation, making it well suited for continuous and light interrupted cuts on steel and stainless steel. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0 degree rake angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert length is 0.5079 inches, thickness is 0.1875 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch). Holding is via clamp and pin method.
This insert is appropriate for turning operations on stainless steel and general steel workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The EEG chip breaker geometry is optimized to control chip formation during medium to finish-pass turning. The CNMG432 form factor fits standard CNMG toolholders commonly used on manual and CNC turning equipment. The CN series designation aligns with the ANSI code CNMG432EEG and ISO code CNMG120408N-EG, allowing straightforward cross-referencing against toolholder catalogs and insert selection guides.
Designed to seat in standard CNMG-style indexable toolholders that accept a 432 insert size with clamp and pin holding. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel; secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M). Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping screw specification before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout/tagout procedure completed before accessing the turret or toolpost. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and secure with the appropriate clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Index to a fresh cutting edge or replace the insert when wear or chipping is observed rather than continuing to cut on a degraded edge.
