The SUMITOMO 19PW169 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI code DNMG431EEX and ISO code DNMG150404N-EX, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. The AC630M grade substrate is finished with an Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) CVD coating, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during medium to finish turning cuts. The 1/64-inch corner radius supports fine surface finish requirements while the positive rake geometry helps reduce cutting forces on the workpiece.
This insert is suited for turning operations on stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials where edge toughness and coating integrity are critical. The EEX chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip evacuation in continuous and light interrupted cuts. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profile work on CNC turning centers in job shop, production machining, and aerospace component environments. The insert seats using a clamp and pin holding method, which is standard across most DNMG-compatible toolholders.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders that accept a clamp and pin holding method. Compatible with material grades C5, C5A, C6, and C7 workpiece classifications. Secondary workpiece material designation is stainless steel (ISO material code M).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamp screw — do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamp pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction are correct for the intended cutting direction before resuming operation.
