The SUMITOMO 19P7CGF is a SNMG432 indexable turning insert designed for CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries the AC8025P manufacturer grade with a CVD-applied Absotech coating, targeting high wear-resistance through moderate wear-resistance and toughness on steel workpieces, and moderate wear-resistance and toughness on cast iron. The insert features a 90-degree square shape, negative rake, negative side clearance, and a neutral hand orientation. Corner radius measures 0.03 inches (1/32 inch), inscribed circle is 0.5 inches, and insert length is 0.5 inches. It is held by clamp or pin and is suited for roughing and medium machining operations.
This insert is intended for use in steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) turning applications on CNC lathes and turning centers in production machining environments. The EEG chip breaker geometry supports chip control across roughing and medium machining pass depths, making it applicable in both job shop and production floor settings where consistent tool life across varying stock removal rates is required. Machinists and CNC operators working with ferrous materials in general engineering or automotive component turning will find this grade and geometry pairing well matched to those demands.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for SNMG432 (ISO SNMG120408) toolholders accepting clamp or pin holding with a negative-rake square insert geometry, conforming to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and the turret indexed to a safe position before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screw to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool-nose position.
