The SUMITOMO 19P7BTT is a DNMG431ELU carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, it carries the AC8025P grade designation with a CVD coating for enhanced wear resistance. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, making it well-suited for controlled finishing cuts where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. It is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for finishing-grade turning applications on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) materials. The ELU chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing passes, producing controlled chip flow at lighter depths of cut. The negative rake and negative side clearance (DNMG geometry) require a compatible DNMG-style toolholder with clamp or pin retention. It is commonly used on CNC turning centers and manual engine lathes in both production and maintenance machining environments. The AC8025P grade provides high wear resistance for steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness for cast iron.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp or pin holding. Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded ISO P (steel) and ISO K (cast iron).
Installation is performed by machinists using a DNMG-compatible toolholder with the appropriate clamp or pin retention hardware. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before inserting. Do not exceed the chip breaker operating range specified for finishing; this insert is not intended for roughing cuts.
