The SUMITOMO 19P7BTQ is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation VNMG332EFL and ISO code VNMG160408N-FL, and is manufactured to grade AC8025P with a CVD coating process for enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-style) with a neutral hand orientation and an EFL chip breaker geometry. Primary workpiece material is steel. The 0.6535-inch length, 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and 3/16-inch thickness conform to standard VNMG toolholder pocket dimensions, making this a direct-fit replacement in compatible tool stations.
This insert is suited for turning steel workpieces in production and job-shop environments where consistent chip control and tool life are priorities. The EFL chip breaker is engineered for finishing and light roughing passes on steel, promoting efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. It installs into standard VNMG-style clamp-and-pin toolholders. The AC8025P grade with CVD coating handles a range of steel cutting conditions including interrupted cuts and varying feed rates. This insert is sold individually and requires a minimum order of 10 units.
Designed for use in standard VNMG-style clamp and pin toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.150-inch hole diameter. Compatible toolholders must be configured for the VNMG insert style with the appropriate pocket geometry for a 35-degree diamond insert.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures applied. Ensure the toolholder pocket is clean and free of debris before seating the insert. Use the correct clamp and pin hardware specified for the VNMG toolholder to secure the insert firmly without over-stressing the carbide body. Inspect the cutting edge and seating surfaces before each use and index or replace the insert when wear exceeds acceptable limits for the application.
