The SUMITOMO 19P7BFA is a coated carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI insert code WNMG432 and ISO insert code WNMG080402, with a grade designation of AC8025P applied via CVD coating. The insert features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. At 3/16-inch thickness and a negative rake with zero-degree relief angle, this insert is engineered for stable, high-wear-resistance cutting in finishing and light machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary users.
This insert is rated for finishing and light machining applications on steel (ISO P materials) and cast iron (ISO K materials), where consistent surface finish and controlled tool life are priorities. The ESX chip breaker geometry is optimized for these operations, managing chip flow in light-depth cuts without compromising edge integrity. It suits production environments where tight tolerances and repeatable results are required on workpieces in those material categories. The insert is held via clamp or pin methods and is compatible with standard WNMG-style toolholders.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard WNMG432 / WNMG080402 insert seats using clamp or pin holding systems. Compatible toolholders must accept an 80-degree trigon insert with a 0.2031-inch hole diameter and negative-rake seating geometry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat and shim for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's setup instructions and applicable shop safety procedures when returning the machine to operation.
