The SUMITOMO 19P7336 is a coated carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ANSI insert code CNMG433 and ISO code CNMG120412, with an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and a neutral hand orientation. The insert is CVD-coated in grade AC8025P, which delivers high to moderate wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on cast iron. With a 0.5079-inch insert length, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 3/64-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for light to medium machining passes where dimensional accuracy and edge life are priorities.
This insert is primarily applied in ferrous machining environments, including production turning of steel components (ISO material group P) and cast iron workpieces (ISO material group K). The EGU chip breaker geometry is engineered for light to medium chip loads, making it a practical choice for finishing and semi-finishing passes on shafts, flanges, and similar cylindrical components. It is installed using either a clamp or pin holding method, consistent with standard CNMG toolholder configurations.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp or pin holding. Compatible toolholders must accommodate the CN series insert geometry per ANSI and ISO 13399 specifications. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and cast iron (K).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing the insert. Verify that the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Torque the clamp screw or secure the pin lock per the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-torque, as this can crack the insert. Confirm insert seating and edge condition before resuming cutting operations.
