The SUMITOMO 19HWW0P is a solid carbide coated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations in CNC and manual turning applications. Manufactured to ANSI insert code CCMT21.51 and ISO code CCMT060204, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 8 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The PVD-applied ZX proprietary coating with AC520U grade delivers a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to demanding workpiece materials. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is configured for finishing and light machining passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are critical.
This insert is intended for turning stainless steel and superalloy workpieces where controlled chip formation and edge integrity are essential. The ESU chip breaker geometry supports finishing and light machining operations, producing consistent chip control at moderate feed rates and depths of cut. The neutral hand orientation and screw-holding method make it compatible with standard CCMT-style toolholders used across a wide range of CNC turning centers and manual lathes in industrial and aerospace manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in CCMT-style toolholders accepting a 21.51 ANSI size code insert. Compatible with standard screw-clamp turning toolholders configured for CCMT060204 geometry. Suitable for primary workpiece materials classified as ISO M (stainless steel) and ISO S (superalloys and special alloys).
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before installing a new insert. Verify feed rate and depth of cut are within the finishing and light machining parameters appropriate for this insert geometry before initiating the cut.
